Pharmacy Point of Sale
(POS)
Pharmacy
Activities for Phase 1 Implementation
Pharmacies should prepare for ProviderOne
Phase 1 implementation. This
implementation will fully integrate the pharmacy
POS launched in October 2008 with the
ProviderOne claim engine.
Readiness activities for pharmacy pos include:
-
Security: Setting up access for
staff tor complete your ProviderOne registration, maintain your provider
file, check eligibility, lookup new ProviderOne client IDs, and access
Remittance Advice (RA). RAs will only be available electronically
once ProviderOne is operational. DSHS announced this cost reduction measure
in May (see
numbered memo 09-19).
-
Registration: This includes
reviewing your provider file that DSHS copied into ProviderOne.
You should verify information about where your payments will be sent.
-
New Client ID: Pharmacy Claims
processed beginning December 6, 2009 must include the new ProviderOne client
ID instead of the current Personal Identification Code (PIC). You
should be making plans to accommodate this change.
Important note
- if you bill DSHS for durable medical equipment or other kinds of services
billed outside of the POS, you will need to complete readiness activities based
on the billing method used. Visit the main provider page for a chart of
readiness activities by billing method. You will need to use
taxonomy codes for billing outside of the POS.

Please note:
The change from the Medical
Assistance ID to the new Services Card does not occur with the POS
implementation. Services Cards will be implemented with medical and
nursing home claims during Phase 1 implementation.
All communication updates
and tools to help pharmacies prepare for the new
POS will have a link posted on this page.
