Provider Information on HIPAA Batch file Testing
Complete testing by Dec. 23, 2009 to be ready for ProviderOne as early as January 10, 2010 The Department of Social and Health Services is implementing a new payment system named ProviderOne. ProviderOne will use three new identifiers that require specific format changes to your system and successful testing before you will be able to submit HIPAA batch transactions to ProviderOne for payment. Each transaction (270, 276, 278, 837I, 837P, and 837D) you plan to use must pass format testing. There are some necessary activities you must complete before you can begin testing. If you plan to submit batch claims to ProviderOne, it is critical that you allow enough time to complete these activities to ensure we can process your claims for payment at go-live. There is a limited window for you to complete HIPAA batch file testing to ensure you can be paid out of ProviderOne. To be ready for ProviderOne implementation as early as January 10, 2010, testing must be complete by Dec. 23, 2009. Based on a January 10, 2010 go live, testing will be suspended December 24, 2009 as we transition to ProviderOne. It is taking providers an average of four weeks of trial and error to pass format testing. Testing will not resume until after ProviderOne is live. Getting Started! Please read "HIPAA Batch Testing - Getting Started" for an overview on both the prerequisites, important links to complete them, and testing. Webinar opportunities for HIPAA Batch File Submitters DSHS is currently hosting a series of webinars through the month of October to help you complete readiness activities - including one titled "HIPAA Batch EDI Tips and Trouble Shooting for Successful Testing." During the webinar you will have an opportunity to ask questions. You will need a computer and a telephone to access the webinars. Testing Status of Billing Agents and Clearinghouses If you use one of these businesses to bill Medicaid claims for you, it is important for you to know if they have successfully tested HIPAA batch transactions. To be ready to submit your transactions the first day ProviderOne is operational they must successfully complete HIPAA batch transaction testing. Based on a January 10, 2010 go-live date, the HIPAA test environment will be unavailable from December 24, 2009 to January 10, 2010 while we transition to the new system. Organizations can resume testing after January 10. Click here to see billing agent and clearinghouse testing status
